Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Martial Arts Network collects, uses and manages personal information when you access or interact with the website.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect personal information in the following circumstances:

  • when you contact us directly, including your name, email address and message content;
  • when you create an account, including your email address, authentication identifier and optional profile image provided via Google; and
  • when you use account features, such as saving favourite gyms and saved searches.

You may browse the website without creating an account.

We do not collect passwords. Authentication is provided via passwordless sign-in (magic links) and Google OAuth.

2. How We Use Information

Personal information is used only for the following purposes:

  • responding to enquiries and feedback;
  • managing and maintaining user accounts;
  • enabling optional features such as favourite gyms and saved searches; and
  • operating, maintaining and improving the platform.

We do not use personal information for marketing purposes and do not sell or trade personal information.

3. Location and Usage Data

You can search by typing a suburb or postcode, or by choosing "use my location". If you choose "use my location", your browser will ask your permission and then provide your device's location, which is used once to find nearby suburbs for that search. Your coordinates are not stored and are not used to track you, and you never have to share them since typing a suburb or postcode works just as well.

Usage data may be collected in aggregated form to understand how the platform is used and to improve functionality.

4. Monitoring, Security and Browser Storage

We do not use advertising and we do not track your browsing for marketing purposes. We use services that monitor site performance, detect errors and protect the platform from automated abuse; these may receive technical information such as your IP address, device and browser type, and the page you were using. To protect the service from abuse, we also apply rate limits: this uses a one-way hashed form of your IP address, kept for a short period and never stored in its original form.

Your browser stores information locally to keep you signed in, remember preferences and support the services above; you can clear or block this through your browser settings.

5. Third-Party Services

Martial Arts Network relies on third-party services to provide core functionality, including:

  • mapping and location services;
  • publicly available geospatial and locality data sources to support location-based features;
  • authentication providers; and
  • analytics and infrastructure services.

These providers may process limited data in accordance with their own privacy policies. Martial Arts Network does not control how third parties independently handle data.

6. Account Deletion and Data Retention

Users may delete their account at any time through their account settings.

Account deletion permanently removes associated personal data, including saved gyms and searches. Some limited information may be retained in system backups for a short period or where required by law. Deleted accounts cannot be recovered.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

8. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to the platform. The current version will always be available on the website.
